Stewart Family Charitable Trust
The Stewart Family farmed a property at Otapiri for many years. Up until 1978 the property was owned solely by Eric Stewart and on his death it passed equally to his two sisters, Olive and Constance Stewart. Both sisters lived and farmed on the property most of their working lives. Upon the death of the two sisters the family farm was sold In 2008 and the Stewart Family Charitable Trust set up.
Under the terms of the trust deed, the sisters directed the Trustee to exercise their discretion to pay income from the fund to assist people with illnesses, congenital defects, or circumstances beyond their control such as accidents or misfortunes.
The Trust focuses specifically on providing assistance to individuals and groups who reside within the Southland area.
